Borussia Dortmund secured their top three spot in the Bundesliga after defeating Hertha BSC 2-0 on Sunday. The victory was achieved thanks to two goals from Marco Reus and Erling Haaland.
Reus scored his first goal for the season in the 19th minute, before Haaland added another in the second half. The victory puts Dortmund one point ahead of Bayern Munich and two points behind league leaders Leipzig.
The match was also significant as it marked the return of Dortmund's fans back to the stadium after a long period of absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dortmund coach Lucien Favre praised his team's performance, saying: "We played well against a very good Hertha team. We controlled the game and created many chances."
Favre also praised the performances of his players, particularly Reus and Haaland, who have been key figures for Dortmund this season.
"Reus has been fantastic for us all season and he showed that again today," said Favre. "Haaland is a world-class striker and he proved why he deserves to be in the best XI in Europe."
Despite the win, Dortmund will face some tough competition in the coming weeks, including matches against RB Leipzig and Eintracht Frankfurt.
But for now, Dortmund can take pride in their hard-fought victory over Hertha BSC and secure their top three spot in the Bundesliga.
