Doku Renewed Contract with Rennes
Rennes Football Club has announced that they have renewed the contract of midfielder Doku for another two years.
The club's president, Jean-Michel Aulas, said: "We are delighted to extend the contract of Doku until June 2024. He is a key player for us and we want him to continue playing at the highest level."
Doku, who was born in Morocco but moved to France as a child, joined Rennes from the youth academy of French club Lens in 2016. He made his professional debut for the club in 2019 and quickly established himself as a regular starter.
Injuries have limited his appearances so far this season, but he remains a valuable asset to the team and a strong presence on the pitch.
Doku's renewal comes just weeks after the club introduced a new release clause worth €70 million. This means that if the club decides to sell Doku, they will be able to do so without any compensation being paid to the player or his agent.
Aulas said: "This release clause is a clear signal of our confidence in Doku's ability to help us achieve our objectives. We believe in his potential and want to give him the freedom to develop his career elsewhere."
Overall, the news of Doku's renewed contract and the introduction of the release clause is likely to boost the morale of the Rennes fans and the club's ambitions for the upcoming season.
