In the second leg of their UEFA Europa League group stage clash against Lille, Manchester United took control with a convincing 1-0 victory at the Stade de France on Wednesday night.

The Red Devils were able to take advantage of Ligue 1 leaders Ajaccio's lack of depth and fitness issues as they dominated the first half and went into the break leading 2-0 up.

However, Lille responded immediately with a goal from their own player, Mathieu Debuchy, to level things up. The French side were then unable to find a way back into the match, despite having possession for most of the game.

As the second half approached, United continued to dominate and create chances. They eventually sealed the win with a penalty shootout, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer using his usual approach of keeping the ball under pressure.

Jonathan David's goal was pivotal in keeping United in the match. The centre-back made a superb save to deny Lille defender Thiago Alcantara, who had a chance to score himself, but he managed to clear the ball away from home, giving United the lead.

David has been a key performer this season, scoring three goals in seven matches so far, including two in the opening game of the group stage. His performance has helped United secure a spot in the quarter-finals, where they will face Real Madrid or Borussia Dortmund in a knockout round match next week.
